E1 DESIGN

E1 Design is a Brisbane-based architectural practice founded by Juan Salazar. The studio focuses on thoughtful, functional, and environmentally responsive design. With more than 20 years of experience in Australia, Juan has worked across residential, multi-residential, commercial, cultural, and urban design projects. E1 Design aims to create architecture that is simple, enduring, and closely connected to its context.

01. CONTEXT

Each project begins with a careful reading of the place, understanding its history, its context, and the dynamics that surround it. Before proposing anything, the process starts by observing and listening to what the space already suggests.

02. MATERIALITY

Design develops through clear decisions and honest materials, seeking a balance between what exists and what is new. Rather than imposing a form, it is about revealing relationships and building from them.

03. EXPERIENCE

Architecture is understood as an experience that is both traversed and inhabited. For this reason, the process pays special attention to light, transitions, and the atmospheres that define each space.

04. PERMANENCE

The ultimate goal is not only to build, but to create places that connect with those who use them, generating spaces that endure over time and maintain a sensitive relationship with their surroundings.
